Still Life in August

The month began with a bang. One virtual and one literal.

The virtual one was when I discovered my web sites had been hacked. That’s a story for another time. Though I will note that this is the 2nd post created using the formerly unloved block editor.

A couple of nights later, I heard a very loud bang right outside of my window.

This is why. While it was a calm evening, there had been some heavy winds recently.

A large CRACK outside my window!
Chopped and ready to haul

With some help from my neighbor with his chainsaw (thanks Bill!), the problem was simplified.

I did a bit more than the day to day cooking this month. Highlights included a fresh peach cobbler, a Pane Pugliese I hadn’t made in more than 10 years, and something new: Shotgun Shells – manicotti stuffed with meat, etc., wrapped in bacon and smoked. Yum!!

12-14 foot sunflowers

The sunflowers were magnificent this year, reaching 12 to fourteen feet tall!

Hot August Sunset

And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.
