A Month of Luminosity

I launched my new photoblog, luminosity, one month ago. I encourage everyone to check it out, as I’ve posted 30 of my favorite images there so far. On this blog, All the Pages, I think only once have I posted something every day for 30 or more days in a row. So it’s been a bit of a challenge to post every day on luminosity.

Posting to a focused, daily blog is a bit different than writing articles for this site, where I basically discuss what I want, when I want, from travel through politics, with a fair number of recipes and whatever else I feel is worth the effort to share. On luminosity I don’t really provide a lot of narrative for the photos, reserving that for All the Pages, but there’s still a fair bit of effort behind each posting.

First, I have to pick an image to post. I have close to 20,000 digital images, but sometimes that’s too many to choose from. Then, given that luminosity is a site where I feature photography, I don’t simply post images straight from the camera. Instead, I do a fair amount of post-processing, including setting the levels, contrast, saturation and sharpness as needed. I also provide the full image details, shutter speed, aperture, lens info and film speed, and it takes a few moments to gather up that info. To create new posts, I start by copying an existing post, one where I used the same camera as the current posting; saves a bit of typing to reuse in that manner.

All in all it takes from 10-40 minutes a day; I hope everyone enjoys the results!

Here’s a list of my 3 favorites so far:

Buffalo Roam

Pond, Moon and Venus

Viking Football

The featured image (which may only be displayed on the index pages, depending on your settings) was randomly selected. It is an unlikely coincidence if it is related to the post.
