Seems my problems with ecto are related to a problem I’m having rebuilding my site. The article is posted, but not visible till I rebuild by hand.
I had previously posted using NetNewsWire so I went back to try that again. Hmm, same results as w/ecto. Article is posted, but blog is not rebuilt. UPDATE: seems that NNW posts are posted, but no category info is present, and no sites are automatically pinged. There is nothing in the log file except an entry noting a new article had been posted. Recalling that pinging is done by the server, and given the error 500, it’s clear that while the site is rebuilt (the article is visible on the front page), it’s not rebuilt completely/cleanly.
I think that the mt-xmlrpc.cgi script is used to handle incoming drafts and posts, so that really does point to a problem with rebuilding the site if not using the MT admin page. Will look at logs carefully after posting this article (written w/NNW). Unfortunately, and this is probably my main complaint about my ISP (pair.com), I don’t have realtime access to my logfiles (today’s logfile is available early tomorrow am. Plus, they provide the access log; have to check and ensure I have access to the errlog. (Wonder if I can do something w/.htaccess to force timely logging?)
