Here’s a behind the scenes look at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. Saved by Science is the name of an exhibition of photographs taken in the storage areas of the museum. Justine Cooper’s rich collection of fine photographs are fascinating and at times mildly disturbing as they reveal the realities behind any large museum’s collection.
The images were taken using a large, wooden 4×5 camera; I can only imagine how rich and detailed the actual prints must appear! In any case, it’s worth visiting the online Saved by Science exhibit to see more photos like those shown below.
