Eric and Oliver had been married 7 years when WW II called him away from his family in Leicester, England. Leaving behind his wife and 3 young children, Eric was first posted to North Africa and then on to Italy.
Though separated physically, Olive and Eric remained very close to each other via a series of letters they wrote each other, often multiple times a week, until Eric’s return in 1945. Manifest in these letters is their deep love and affection for each other, along with little insights into the realities of war-time life that are never captured in the history books. Their “kiddies” have transcribed the letters and shared them via the web.
A fitting tribute as once again the world appears helpless to stop a headlong rush into madness.
