Memorial Day 2014

Memorial Day in a small town is peaceful. Lots of family gatherings and barbeque, but not loud like the 4th of July. It was a pleasant morning for a bike ride around town. I took a few photos along the way, including a couple from east of town.

It was an interesting ride, as I saw some geese floating in the Smoky Hill River, something I’ve never seen before! There was also a small drone flying over the river bridge as I went over and I managed to get a cool shot of the sun over the bridge, with the white cottonwood tree “puffs” floating in the air.

While east of town I saw a huge snapping turtle in the creek, about 20 feet below the bridge.

Later we went for a ride to a couple of area cemeteries to pay our respects and I took a few more images while we were out. Descriptions are at the bottom of each picture.
