Making the Cut

Inspired initially by a local artist’s Facebook share on linocuts I did some research on the topic and decided to give it a try.

My motivation to pursue linocut print making was further enhanced as I realized how many prints created by Lee Becker we have hanging in our house!

So I did my usual quick deep quick study of the topic, purchased the requisite supplies and materials, read the book and today created my first linocut prints!

I wanted to make something quick and easy, but with sufficient detail to make it worth the effort. Hearts are easy to draw and the letters for LOVE were easy to reverse.

Partway through I “edited” the words (you could say my love grew bigger) slightly. It is a rough piece, but I was able to both try out my cutting tools and make a bunch of test prints!
