I created this series of images using the Procreate app on my iPad. I began with a page of simple cartoon faces (just for practice.) Once complete, it hit me that it could be used as the basis for some creativity!
I began by coloring the faces, filling each in one at a time, using a random color from a set of 3 skin tone palettes. I created a gradient background using some of the same colors, and I think overall, it’s the best in the series.
Next, I filled in the faces using the colors from the Helix Nebula palette. I like it. It’s a bit whimsical.
After that, I filled in the faces using an actual image of the Helix Nebula. It sort of worked, and it’s interesting to compare the colors from the palette with the actual nebula colors.
Finally, it occurred to me to try and do something with a map of the earth. Not entirely thrilled with this one … the concept is OK, but it just doesn’t quite have the punch I wanted.
